A Luckenbooth is a traditional Scottish heart-shaped brooch, often featuring a crown and sometimes thistle motifs, that served as a cherished romantic token of love, engagement, or marriage from the 16th to the 18th centuries. Originating from the "lockable booths" (luckenbooths) that once lined Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, these small silver tokens were exchanged as intimate keepsakes and were also commonly worn as protective amulets to ward off evil spirits.
