The MacDougall clan is a prominent Highland Scottish clan, historically based in and around Argyll, Scotland. The clan's name comes from Dougall, the eldest son of Somerled, King of the Isles. Dougall held much of his father's lands after his death, including Argyll and various islands. The MacDougalls have a rich history, marked by conflicts with neighboring clans like the Bruce and the Campbells. Their motto is "Buaidh no bàs," which translates to "Victory or Death" - Vincere vel mori in latin.
