Clan MacDonald of Keppoch, also known as Clan MacDonell of Keppoch or Clan Ranald of Lochaber (Scottish Gaelic: Clann Dòmhnaill na Ceapaich), is a Highland Scottish clan and an important branch of the wider Clan Donald. The recognized progenitor of the clan is Alistair Carrach MacDonald, who is recorded as the fourth great-grandson of the renowned Norse-Gaelic warrior Somerled. By tradition the clan chief is formally described as the "Son of Ranald's son" (Scottish Gaelic: Mac Mhic Raonuill), reflecting the clan’s descent and its enduring ties to the Ranaldic line.
