The Lost Tartan - House of Edgar Genesis of Tartan - Double Width Cloth MWS4508/TI

This exquisite cloth serves as a faithful recreation of the Wilsons of Bannockburn Highland Revival sett, dating back to the early 19th century, specifically from circa 1820 to 1840. The unnamed sett has long been rumoured to have some historical association with Prince Charles Edward Stuart, a connection illustrated in a now lost painting by the artist William Simson. Interestingly, a Wilsons of Bannockburn Highland Rival Coat is currently preserved and held within the esteemed collection of The National Museum of Scotland, showcasing the significance of this attire in Scottish heritage.

Peter Macdonald, a well-respected tartan historian, carried out some meticulous work of reevaluating the original surviving tartan coat details and deciphering the original colours of the tartan to ensure its authenticity.
