Classic Scottish sealskin semi dress sporran with a brass stud fastening and three leather thistle style tassels. Good patina to the vintage leather.
There is always a quality in the vintage sealskin sporrans and this is a fine example of a 1950’s vintage sporran. Unlike later sealskin sporrans the earlier Scottish sealskin sporrans often had a beautiful honey tone and mottled pattern to the hide.
New brown leather strap included.

A Sporran is a pouch (Scottish Gaelic for ‘purse’). Now a decorative part of Highland dress, it was originally an everyday practical item. Made of leather or fur, it usually has more or less elaborate silver or other ornamentation, especially on the clasp or hanger. It is worn on a chain or belt around the waist, allowing the sporran to lie below the waist of the person wearing a kilt.
