Victorian 1st Admin Battalion Aberdeenshire Rifle Volunteers Badge
The Victorian 1st Admin Battalion Aberdeenshire Rifle Volunteers unit was established in May 1860, locating its headquarters in Inverurie. In 1884, it was reorganized as the 1st Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders and was later redesignated as the 4th Battalion Gordon Highlanders in the year 1908.

The Gordon Highlanders
The Gordon Highlanders was a line infantry regiment of the British Army that existed for 113 years, from 1881 until 1994, when it was amalgamated with the Queen’s Own Highlanders (Seaforth Highlanders and Cameron Highlanders) to form the Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons).
