Antique Pre 1881 92nd ( Gordon) Highlanders ) Brass Pipers Crossbelt Plate

Pipers Baldric Plate - A brass hobnailed garter star on a St Andrews Cross. Battle Honours Waterloo -Peninsula- Orthes- Egmont Op Zee Mandora- Egypt- Nives- Pyrenees- Vittoria- Corruna- Fuentas De Honor- Almaraz. The centre has voided regimental numbers 92 surrounded by a thistle wreath and Highlanders title, with crown above.

Brass plate with fretted out centre. Rounded corners and the reverse of the plate has three brass dome topped stud fastening that may have been re soldered at some point in the past - period repair.

The Gordon Highlanders was a line infantry regiment of the British Army that existed for 113 years, from 1881 until 1994, when it was amalgamated with the Queen's Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons) to form the Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons).

The regiment was formed on 1 July 1881 instigated under the Childers Reforms. The new two-battalion regiment was formed out of the 75th (Stirlingshire) Regiment of Foot—which became the 1st Battalion of the new regiment—and the 92nd (Gordon Highlanders) Regiment of Foot, which became the 2nd Battalion.
