The Scottish horn and silver whisky quaich was made by William Dunningham silversmith in Aberdeen.

The quaich has a silver disc in the centre that is marked with WD & Co  S  925 ( circa 1910 silver stamp used by Dunningham ) and has the words SGUAB AS'I  (which is the Gaelic phrase meaning 'Toss it back’ or ‘Sweep it away’). 

The lugs have silver elliptical discs with the Scottish thistle to one side and a Celtic cross to the other.
Length 4.75 in (12 cm).  Height 1 in (2.5 cm).  Depth 2.5 in (6.2 cm). In good vintage - antique condition made by William Dunningham & Co (Aberdeen).

William Dunningham was a manufacturing jewellers & silversmiths working from Diamond Street, Aberdeen from the late 19th century until the 1950’s. They were renowned for crafting horn and sterling silver Scottish accoutrements. From snuff mulls, porridge spoons and whisky quaichs to kilt pins and Highland dress accessories.
