Antique Scottish Galley Clan Crest Silver 1929 Buttons - Set of six

A superb quality and exceptionally rare set of six Scottish solid sterling silver ship crested buttons. Each button is elegantly hallmarked for the city of Glasgow in the year 1929, and they bear the maker's mark of TSC - which stands for T S Cuthbert of Buchanan Street, a renowned silversmith in Glasgow.

They have been beautifully made being engraved with a Scottish galley ship crest. The classic Scottish galley makes up part of the crests of many West Coast clans and has connections to the 12th century Norse-Gaelic Lord, Somerled. The clans and families using the Norse galley in part of their crests include Campbell of Airds, MacLean clan, The Earl of Orkney, McAndrew, Barratt, Crichton, Milne of Blairtoun Monteith and Tighe ( Ireland ) .
