The Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra), also referred to as the European otter, Eurasian river otter, common otter, and Old World otter, is a semiaquatic mammal naturally found in Eurasia. It holds the distinction of being the most widely distributed member of the otter subfamily (Lutrinae) within the weasel family (Mustelidae), inhabiting the waterways and coastal regions of Europe, various parts of Asia, and portions of northern Africa.

With a primary diet centered around fish consumption, the Eurasian otter displays strong territorial behavior. Although facing endangerment in certain areas of its habitat, there are signs of recovery in other regions.
