Explore the Tartan Genesis Collection

The Tartan Genesis collection thoughtfully looks back through the rich and vibrant history of tartan, culminating in a collection that is not only incredibly unique but also deeply memorable. Consisting of six historically significant patterns, this carefully curated collection magnificently celebrates the fascinating evolution of tartans, particularly prior to the standardized uniformity of Clan setts that we recognize today. Each design encapsulates stories and traditions that reflect the cultural heritage of Scotland.

From Scotland's oldest tartan, its notable military use, the significant Jacobite Rising of 1745, and the remarkable Highland Revival all serve to highlight how skilled and dedicated weavers meticulously ensured the enduring legacy of each unique pattern. These elements underscore the rich cultural history intertwined with the artistry of tartan weaving.

The collection is available in a variety of options, including both single and double width cloth, which allows for a wide range of versatile applications to meet different needs and preferences.

The single width cloth kilting selvedge features an added 1.5” herringbone structure for enhanced detail and historic intrigue.

The double width option consists of tuck in selvedges at either side of the cloth – strong and hard-wearing, ideal for kilt making. Woven from pure new wool.
