Antique Original Edwardian Cantle Goat Hair Sporran
We recently sourced this original antique Edwardian pierced and engraved sporran cantle with three fir cone style knobs and original Ox blood under slip was sourced recently. The cantle is not maker hallmarked, but has a flour de lys stamp in the centre back.
We have restored the antique sporran cantle with a classic white goats hair dress sporran body, featuring three black goat hair tassels based an original pattern.
The back of the sporran is finished in a oxblood leather with a classic back purse and a classic tooled design.
Approx size. 6 1/2” x 18”
This sporran style was popular from the 1860’s and was as shown in many of the paintings in Queen Victoria’s Highlanders of Scotland by Kenneth MacLeay.
