To start the year we have found a few more wonderful 19th Century Victorian CDV photographs of officers and gentlemen in their kilts. We have curated another wonderful group of antique kilt and sporran photographs.
Fabulous tartan kilt ( possible MacPherson ) styled with a Scottish Wildcat sporran very popular with clan members. This photo was taken in Ireland circa 1880 with what looks like a houndstooth tweed Argyle jacket and waistcoat.
A Victorian gentleman from teh Aberdeen area double brested waistcoat circa 1870. Day dress complete with goat hair sporran and crook.
Interesting photo of a gentleman in his kilt. We think from the stance and styling he may well be a Highland Games competitor.
An officer in the Cameron Highlanders. Taken in Cheltenham England circa 1880. the sporran is the classic Cameron Highlanders levee dress sporran in grey-brown hair with gilt cantle.
An officer in the Seaforth Highlanders in levee dress. Complete with white gloves, levee dress sporran, levee dress gilt lace belt, Highland dirk and basket hilt sword.
Over the years we have made a few variations on a classic vintage style doublet and waistcoat that was popular in the late 19th and early 20th century. We have just finished a new project for a client which was a variation on the style. This was crafted in a tweed with leather covered buttons and a silk grey lining and back.
